Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

JeepsBook (“JeepsBook”, “we”, “us”) is operated by [Operator legal name — owner must edit]. JeepsBook is an independent community platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer. For privacy questions or requests contact support@jeepsbook.com.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, phone number (optional), username, hashed password or the identifier from a sign-in provider such as Google, and security settings such as two-factor authentication.
• Profile data: display name, avatar and cover photos, bio, city and country, website and social handles, and your privacy preferences.
• Vehicle data: vehicles you add (model, trim, build details, photos, maintenance, expenses and timeline). A VIN is only stored if you choose to enter it.
• Content you create: posts, comments, stories, reels, messages, marketplace listings and offers, event and club activity, trail reviews, reactions and reports you submit.
• Media: photos and videos you upload, including any metadata they contain. Photos can carry embedded metadata such as GPS location; remove it before uploading if you do not want it shared.
• Location: only when you choose to share it, for example while a convoy location session or an SOS recovery request is active, or when you check in on a trail. Precise SOS location is shared only with responders for the duration of the request. We do not track your location in the background.
• Technical and security data: IP address, device and browser type, session identifiers, and logs used to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and debug problems.
• Notifications: if you enable push notifications, a browser push subscription endpoint.
• Payments: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider; we receive only the subscription status and limited billing details, never your full card number.

3. How we use data

• To provide the service: profiles, feeds, messaging, marketplace, events, convoys and recovery (SOS) features.
• To keep the community safe: moderation of reported and automatically flagged content, fraud and spam prevention, and enforcement of our Terms.
• To secure accounts: authentication, session management, and detecting suspicious activity.
• To send service messages and the notifications you opt into.
• To improve reliability and features using aggregated, de-identified usage information.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running a safe community, your consent (for example for push notifications or location sharing, which you can withdraw at any time), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. What other members can see

Your public profile, public posts, vehicles marked public, listings and reviews are visible to other members and, where a page is public, to visitors. You control profile visibility, direct-message permissions, online status and location features in Settings. Private messages are visible to the participants of the conversation and, when a message is reported, to our moderators.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Service providers that host, store, deliver email/push, process payments or help us moderate, under contracts that limit their use of the data.
• Other members, as described above and as directed by you (for example SOS responders or convoy participants).
• Authorities, when required by law or to protect someone’s safety in an emergency.
• A successor, if JeepsBook is involved in a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.

6. Retention

We keep data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and content are hidden immediately and deleted after a short recovery and safety window, except where we must keep limited records for legal, security, fraud-prevention or moderation purposes (for example records of banned accounts).

7. Your rights and choices

• Access and export: download a copy of your data from Settings → Account and sessions → Export my data.
• Correction: edit your profile, vehicles and content at any time.
• Deletion: delete your account from Settings → Account and sessions → Request deletion.
• Objection and restriction: turn off optional features such as push notifications, the nearby network and precise SOS location.
• Complaints: you may contact your local data-protection authority.

For any request we cannot handle in-app, contact support@jeepsbook.com. We may need to verify your identity.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, httpOnly session cookies, CSRF protection, optional two-factor authentication, access controls and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; please use a unique password and enable two-factor authentication.

9. Children

JeepsBook is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or older where local law requires) to create an account. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact support@jeepsbook.com and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our servers and providers may be located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes

We will post updates on this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
